When using the BetterBoard platform it is important that you feel safe and know that your activity is protected with a very high level of security.
We have listed some of the security measures here – both those you can physically see and those that are hidden:
TLS (SSL) certificate with “Extended Validation”
A high TLS 1.2 encryption. TLS 1.2 is a new and more secure browser protocol that is recommended over the more commonly used SSL encryption.
TLS is a standard security technology that makes it possible to establish an encrypted (secure) connection between a web server and a browser. This connection ensures that all data passing between the web server and the browser remains private, e.g. when you enter your login information on the BetterBoard platform. Using TLS login information can be encrypted, making it much more difficult for intruders to get hold of it.
The purpose of the TLS certificate itself is to encrypt the information and data sent between the website visitor and the website owner, making it available to be read only by the two parties.
EV is the highest approval for issuing an SSL certificate and is issued according to the strict standards defined by the organisation CA/Browser Forum.
What is encryption?
Encryption means changing data into a format that can only be accessed by the intended recipient. In order to decrypt (decode) data, the recipient must have the correct “key”. When you work on the platform and start uploading and viewing documents, your data is secured with 256 bit AES encryption, which is one of the best and most advanced encryption standards. This encryption standard is, among other things, approved by the NSA for the distribution of highly classified electronic material.
We ensure that your data is 256-bit AES-encrypted both at the moment of “distribution” and when it is at rest (stored). The actual physical storage of data is at Microsoft Azure’s facility in Europe, which is, among other things, ISO/IEC 27001:2013 certified.
The above mentioned security measures are important elements of a secure board platform, and a large part of what ensures that your board, committee etc. is GDPR compliant.
