Kristine Hejgaard, professional board member
"The transition to BetterBoard's board portal was an eye-opener."
With a 14-year career in board work, Kristine Hejgaard has an in-depth understanding of the challenges and complexities that come with the management and control of diverse companies. Her experience spans several industries, where she has and has had roles as chairman of the board, deputy chairman and member in organisations such as Frederikssund Handibusser A/S, Anette Kjær og Sønner ApS, Audes Aps and True Food ApS. “For me, board work is about ensuring a robust foundation for the company when we have to navigate the challenges of the future,” says Kristine Hejgaard.
She emphasises that a “helicopter perspective” is essential to understand how a company can best position itself in an ever-changing market. “We must constantly keep an eye on both the near and the long-term horizons,” Kristine Hejgaard points out.
Switched to BetterBoard
In the search for a more efficient way to handle board work, Kristine’s path crossed with BetterBoard, a platform designed to facilitate aspects of board work such as document management and meeting planning. This change represented a decisive step towards digitalising the administrative tasks that have traditionally been a time-consuming part of the board’s work. “The transition to BetterBoard was an eye-opener. It soon became clear that the platform offered much more than just secure storage of documents,” she reflects.
With BetterBoard, Kristine has found a portal that not only ensures the security of documents through two-factor authentication and strong encryption protocols, but also offers a number of features that transform the way board work is done. The intuitive agenda function, the possibility to make minutes directly in the system, and a simplified approval process have made it possible for Kristine and the boards she works on to focus on “smarter, not harder”.
A special aspect of BetterBoard that Kristine highlights is its streamlining of meeting preparations.
“The platform has enabled us to link documents directly to agenda items and to reuse meeting agendas. It may sound simple, but this approach has resulted in a significant improvement in the preparation process for meetings,” says Kristine Hejgaard.
Looking Forward
Kristine’s experiences with integrating BetterBoard into her board practice illustrate how adaptation of digital solutions can support and improve board work. This transition has not only enriched the administrative side of her work, but has also supported a more agile and forward-looking approach to board leadership.
Through the use of BetterBoard, Kristine has found a way to navigate through the administrative aspects of board work with greater ease, which gives more room to focus on the core tasks of the board work: the supervisory task, strategic planning, risk management, and future-proofing the company. This shift has not only benefited her personally, but has also contributed positively to the boards she serves on by fostering a culture of efficiency and forward thinking
